Elephant Conservation

Elephant Conservation

This is a trip where you can help care for these wonderful animals, working alongside professional mahouts (elephant keepers). This allows refuge to domesticated elephants that have been used for begging on the streets, aiming to provide an environment as close to nature as possible. Volunteers will be accompanied by experienced mahouts. You may find yourself feeding and giving water to the elephants, cleaning the enclosure, hosing down and cleaning the elephants, collecting food from local farms, looking after other domesticated animals such as rescued dogs and ponies.
Volunteering work is normally six days of the week. After work you normally can relax with the other volunteers. On days off you are free to explore the local area or venture further afield. By volunteering you will make a major contribution to elephant conservation. Your time and efforts will help to look after the elephants and the majority of the programme cost will go direct to providing a critical source of funding for future work. On a personal level you will have a unique opportunity to work alongside some incredible creatures and gain the satisfaction of helping to make a difference to their lives.
